God of Strength

The Birth of Handur:

Despite their clear differences, Collanus and Callaeyus were still drawn to one another. Fervent worshipers of Handur claim that when Collanus and Callaeyus tested their strength against one another they were too evenly matched and out of their contest Handur was born. This is of course total nonsense to everyone except the most fervent of worshipers. The far more sensible truth is that Handur was born from the belly of an ox enchanted by Collanus and Callaeyus. Handur emerged from the ox fully formed and he and the ox are together to this day.

Appearance:

Handur is a big man. His face may change slightly according to whomever may see him, but there is no mistaking that he is well over 14 feet tall. He is taller than any other god and is far wider to boot. Most often Handur will appear to worshippers and challengers clad in rough cloth plants or a kilt, bare from the waist up. Despite being easily one of the oldest beings in the universe, Handur still retains a vaguely youthful face and has a fierce, intensely competitive gaze. He is also always accompanied by Bilthur, the ox that birthed him. He also sounds like a pirate, but, to be 100% clear, he is not a pirate.

Temperament:

Handur seeks to be the physically strongest being in all of existence. Despite the fact that he almost assuredly is, Handur is always looking for a challenge. Whether its plain wrestling, or even the assault of a dark necromancer’s tower, Handur regards most of life on Ianis as a game. He’s boisterous, fun-loving and never, ever takes anything too seriously. Mortals asking him for help are better to appeal to Handurs sense of fun or challenge, than to appeal to his sense of moral duty. He is also a huge fan of the movie Treasure Island despite having no real idea what a movie is.

Worship:

Handur has small temples in most large cities. Priests and clerics of Handur regard life the same as Handur does, as nothing but a test. Generally, his temples provide manual labor services or entertainment in the form of feats of strength. These worshipers seek to follow Handurs footsteps and become as physically strong as possible. While their incredible sense of competition can be slightly annoying for the local guard, their helpfulness is appreciated. Outside of this, one may offer a quick prayer to Handur before undertaking a particularly strenuous task.
