God of Healing and The Sun

The Birth of Sularion:

When Salamthur was finally contained, and then released, the Gods found the universe changed forever. Despite agreeing to there being no more Gods, they all agreed that some force was required to counteract Salamthur’s effect on the many worlds of the Astral Plane. Iambulus and Ariante elected to work together and try and bring a new God into the universe, countering what Salamthur’s birth had wrought. Ariante began to spin sunlight together, forming what would become Sularion’s body. As it came together Iambulus offered tomes and scrolls of knowledge, the pages turning to ashes in Sularion’s body. Sularion would have been the most powerful of all the Gods, easily capable of quashing Salamthur’s power to the point where he would in essence no longer exist.

However, they were betrayed by their own father. Ranbeltor, fascinated by Ariante spinning sunlight began to question her. She initially rebuffed him, far too focused on her task. Ranbeltor pressed further however, desperate to know her secrets. Arinate was pulled into a deep sleep and Sularion was born, but far too early. Sularion was still filled with power, but nothing like what his parents had imagined. He could not counter Salamthur directly, instead he was limited to only providing the races of the Astral Plane with the power to heal and help themselves.

Appearance:

As a byproduct of his early birth, Sularion was not only weaker in power, but also in body. Possessing only a single arm and a half formed torso, Sularion wears, at all times, a thick white robe, that he might hide his disfigurement. In his strong hand, Sularion holds a thick, leather bag filled with medical supplies. Sularion will appear freely to mortals to offer assistance, bag in hand, what remains of his body morphed to match those he his assisting. At times however Sularion will appear as the sunlight used to form his body, a shining God, blinding to see. Often Sularion will descend to Ianis in the guise of a cripple to test a mortal’s sense of empathy.

Temperament:

Sularion has a particular affection for the humans he created, feeling free to appear to them in times of great need. He feels responsible for the health of all mortal races, good and evil, and so does not play favorites in times of conflict. Sularion does what he can to fulfill most prayers offered to him, though his birth has left him weak and he often can’t spend the energy to do so. When dealing directly with mortals Sularion is by all accounts incredibly congenial, humorous and polite. He is however, oddly enough, something of a hypochondriac. Sularion is more than happy to listen and sympathize with mortals, and is willing to help, but will often not do so for fear of weakening himself. He is also rendered deeply uncomfortable by magical diseases such as Grove Rot and will often have nothing to do with them.

Worship:

Good health is a near universally desired trait and as such Sularion enjoys worship across nearly every race. His priests most often function as doctors, and his temples hospitals. Temples to Sularion provide care and healing to the residents of the city or village they may be in, but not often in the way that people hope. Magical healings are regarded as a scarce resource and so more often than not a temple to Sularion offers more practical medical assistance. Sularion and his priests knowledge of anatomy is expanding every year, but is by no means exhaustive, and so the priests are successful just as much as they are not. Outside of this, Sularion is often invoked by all sentient races on Ianis to wish good health on not only themselves, but others as well. If one wishes to keep Sularion’s blessing upon a place, it is said that sprigs of fresh herbs should be arranged. Though many temples claim that offerings of home-baking work just as well. On an unrelated note, many senior priests of Sularion wear plus sized robes.
