God of Battle and Valor

The Birth of Collanus:

After their mother departed the Astral Plane, the other Gods wished to have their own children. Other Gods who might help them fill the Astral Plane with life. Iambulus approached Gulthia, believing her fire and his magic would be a fine mix. He did not understand that his desire to master and control magic was at odds with her and when he touched her arm, it is said a splinter of magic became embedded in her arm. Furious she commanded Iambulus to remove it. Misunderstanding he attempted to use more magic and caused Gulthia more pain. Not wishing to suffer his foolishness any longer she took up a snake and used it to suck the splinter from her arm. This splinter, born of magic and fire expanded into Collanus, God of Battle and Valour. It is said that Collanus was born cool to the touch, a sword in one hand and a scroll in the other. Fearsome and wise beyond his years, Collanus is one of the greatest warriors the universe has ever known.

Appearance:

Collanus is one of the unfortunate Gods whose appearance has never been fully determined. As battle and valor are near universal concepts, his appearance is often colored by one the one describing him. What remains consistent however is that he appears as the paragon warrior, clad head to toe in armor, a sword in one hand and a scroll in the other. Indeed, there have been times where Collanus has chosen to appear before several warriors and every one gave a different account. In most traditional depictions, Collanus is clad in full plate mail and wields a broadsword one-handed, his face concealed by an ornate helmet.

Temperament:

Collanus views all races and sentient life as being his. He regards conflict not just as a part of life, but a necessary one. Collanus is not his sister or son however. He sees conflict and battle as a way to protect one’s lands and loved ones. Warriors praying for the strength and wisdom to defend themselves, or to strike back against tyranny will always receive his favor. Collanus is more willing than most Gods to appear before his worshipers and mortals in general, finding himself constantly amazed by their force of will. Collanus, despite his great strength, also recognizes the important of a warrior’s mind and is happy to debate, argue and ruminate with any mortal he may come across. He does not take kindly to those wishing strength to crush the weak and if one finds themselves on the bad side of Collanus, it is a fight you will always lose.

Worship:

Collanus has temples in most large cities. These temples are more often than not essentially glorified barracks with the priests and clerics inside serving as the cities defensive force. Inside, the priest and clerics lead simple lives and spend their days training and studying. While the life of a disciple of Collanus is filled with honor, it is a path that one follows for life and it is not uncommon to find a wide range of races, ages and genders in each temple. These temples are devoted solely to the defense of the city from outside, attacking forces. Should a ruler wish to wage war against his neighbor, he will find no help from the worshippers of Collanus. Equally, should a ruler bring conflict to his own doorstep, Collanus will lend no aid. Outside of these temples, Collanus is revered by common soldiers and commanders as the ideal warrior.
